Beware the pies of March!

Published about 2 months ago • 5 min read

Yesterday was Pi Day, today is the Ides of March, and Sunday is St. Patrick's Day, so naturally tomorrow, the one day of the four that doesn't have its own name is the day we're having family over for a dinner of Caesar salad, Irish lasagne (made with potatoes instead of noodles--it's really delicious) and...cake, not pie, because my daughter made this Ides of March cake on pie day. At least it's circular and not square... 😂

I feel like we need to cut this cake with a sword. I think we have one somewhere.

For your St. Patrick's Day reading, I suggest books with green covers.

When a food storage depot in famine-struck South Sudan is torched, American aid worker Brie Stewart flees, only to land in a market where she’s the next item up for sale. Green Beret Sebastian Ford crossed paths with Brie years ago when she was a shill for her family’s oil company, pushing a pipeline that threatened tribal land. Tasked with leading his A-Team on the mission to find her, he won’t let her abduction—or the attraction that flares between them—get in the way of settling their unfinished business.

My giveaway of signed books by Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Jayne Ann Krentz, and Christina Dodd is now over and the winner has been notified and claimed their prize. Nearly 1,000 of you entered the contest with SEP winning by more than a hundred votes as most likely to have done pushups, while JAK and Christina were nearly tied for second with JAK leading Christina by only 11 votes. The correct answer was SEP, so nearly 400 of you were correct!

Speaking of Jayne & Christina, last month I joined them and pal Darcy Burke for lunch in Seattle and we had such a blast. 😍 I am already counting the days until we can do it again.

Notice the sticker sheets on the table - those are for Christina's June release A DAUGHTER OF FAIR VERONA. Watch this space because I have a signed ARC for this and I will be giving it and the stickers to one lucky reader in the coming weeks!

Also speaking of Christina, I've been dying to get my hands on her latest, EVERY SINGLE SECRET, and it's finally available! The book cover is also green for your St. Patrick's Day reading needs. Click on the cover to go to Amazon.

EVERY SINGLE SECRET by Christina Dodd

Never whisper the truth. Never reveal the past.

In an isolated lighthouse on the California coast, Rowan Winterbourne lives a solitary life with only her secrets for company. For she has a mission that drives her—to avenge herself against Gregory Torval, the powerful drug and arms dealer who murdered her mother and vowed to eliminate everyone in her family.

Then Joe Grantham arrives at her door and, for the first time, Rowan lets her guard down—a dangerous mistake when he blackmails her to go with him to Torval's private island. There Torval’s decadent birthday celebration rages, and while Joe pursues his own agenda, she’ll provide the perfect distraction.

On Raptor Island, Torval’s will is law and Joe, the closest she has to an ally, is an enigma she can’t trust. One false move, one careless word, and Rowan will die. As dark truths are uncovered, one by one, Rowan recognizes her last chance for the revenge has come. But is it worth everything she must sacrifice to get out alive?

About the first book, CRASHED:

Glamorous professional racecar driver Leilah Khan is a thrill seeker, always up for adventure. She’s also tough and fearless. She has to be, as one of the few women in a field dominated by testosterone.

Attorney Ryan Hayes is intellectual and methodical. He may work for a private security firm, but his job is to avoid danger, not seek it. All the same, when his friends surprise him with a driving experience with Leilah for his birthday, Ryan finds it—and her—exhilarating.

After they leave the racetrack, still coursing with adrenaline from the high-speed laps, Leilah crashes her street car. Someone’s tampered with her brakes. And they, whoever they are, won’t stop there. Ryan and Leilah go on the run, unsure if the danger chasing them is from her racing rivals or his work for Potomac Private Services.

As they scramble to find answers, they try to resist the attraction they feel. Their chemistry is undeniable, but neither is willing to act on it. For one thing, they’re oil and water. For another, Ryan is Leilah’s brother’s best friend. But as both the danger and their desire grow, they’ll face more than one impossible choice.

About THE WIDOW BRIDE:

Since I lost my first husband, Blake has been there for me, showering me with gifts and affection, holding my hand as I go back into the world. He’s the only one who truly understands what I’ve been through. How hard it’s been on me. So, when Blake insisted we keep our elopement a secret, I agreed. But, now, it feels wrong to walk down the aisle between empty chairs.

As I step in front of the officiant with my husband-to-be, I think back to my last conversation with my first husband’s sister. Should I have listened when she tried to warn me about Blake’s past?

Maybe it’s just wedding day nerves… But when I meet Blake’s brown eyes, there’s something dark in them I’ve never seen before. He grips my wrist to put the ring on my finger, and a shiver runs down my spine when he says, “Finally, you’re mine.”

I remember my sister-in-law’s warning and I tremble. But it’s too late to turn back now.

Marrying him is the only option because I have secrets of my own.

My trip to NOLA last week was a blast! In addition to getting to see a bunch of archaeologist friends who were in town for meetings, I also got to visit Alabama for the first time ever to see author pals Cynthia Eden and Manda Collins! 😍 Manda did me the huge favor of being the first reader for DON'T LOOK BACK and gave me great feedback. I'm now excited to say that Rand and Kira's story is going to be sent to my editor very soon and while I haven't finalized the exact date, I can say the book...

Later this month, my husband and I are going to New Orleans. I've been there before, but it was more than 3 decades ago. We have a bunch of historic sites we want to see, and my list of restaurants is, admittedly, already long. But I'd love to hear from readers - what is, in your opinion, the one place that is not to be missed in NOLA? I can't promise to reply to every email I get, but know that every recommendation is appreciated! And I will be sure to share my favorites after the trip. 😍 In...
