My trip to Taiwan to visit family was wonderful. I got to spend time with my nephew, his wife, her family, and my adorable grand-nephew. 😍 We were treated to several fantastic meals and a guided tour of Taipei and Jiufen. More photos posted on social media.

Now that I'm back from my travels (US, Canada, Taiwan, and Japan--and that was all just in September!) I'm back at work drafting False Flag, which will bring the Evidence: Under Fire series back to the Pacific Northwest, but this time in British Columbia, Canada. I've written several books set in or near my home state of Washington. Do you have a favorite?

Later this month I will run a sale on whichever book is the winner!

Did you know I have a book set in Yosemite National Park under the pen name R.S. Grant?

Is she following a path of redemption or an enemy’s revenge? A crime reporter’s traumatic past comes back to haunt her in a twisting novel of lies, betrayals, and killer secrets.

Investigative crime journalist Signe Gates’s life became a nightmare the day she was kidnapped and drugged. After forty-eight missing hours, she woke to a blur of unsettling memories and a warning from her unknown abductors: tell anyone what happened and they’ll die. They’ve already proved they will deliver on that threat.

For two years, Signe has been haunted by what she knows she did and terrified of what else could be buried in her memories. Then an informant tells her two men recently found dead in Yosemite are connected to her missing hours, and more answers await her in the park’s backwoods. But she must hurry. Desperate to know who targeted her and why, she has no choice but to embark on the dangerous journey.

With a seasoned hiker acting as her guide, Signe ventures into the wilderness to solve a crime, get justice for the crimes committed against her, and overcome her demons. If only she could trust the man leading her into the backwoods…

Because with each new suspicion, deliverance is starting to look more and more like a trap.

On March 23, 2025 my husband and I boarded a flight with the eventual destination of Okinawa, Japan. We arrived in Naha late on the 24th, and didn't make it to our hotel until after midnight on the 25th. (This is memorable because our hotel was on a military base and they didn't want let me on base because even though my name was on my husband's travel orders, I didn't have a DoD ID at the time and no one is permitted on base after midnight without having a pass already or DoD ID.) We did...

Did you have a chance to see the Blood Moon total lunar eclipse on March 3rd? We had a great view of it from our rooftop in Okinawa. Unfortunately it clouded over before we got the tripod dialed in, but we were able to take this photo at the maximum total eclipse. I've been back in Okinawa for a few weeks and in addition to returning in time to see the eclipse, we also had family visit from the US and Taiwan. We had a great visit and I so enjoyed taking care of my 15-month-old grand-nephew. 😍...

I'm back in the US for a few weeks--I flew home at then end of January for a writing retreat in Southern California, which was glorious and sunny, but now I'm back in the Pacific Northwest and it's chilly here! This is, of course, to be expected, but most of my winter clothes are in long-term storage. Oops. Good thing I'm heading back to Okinawa soon! My writing retreat was fabulous--I had a great time talking business and craft with author friends who I've missed dearly this last year, and I...
