Two days late but right on time...

Living in Okinawa, it's usually tomorrow for me as I connect with my friends and family in the US or watch live sporting events.

This is my world clock on my laptop:

All of Japan shares one time zone—Japan Standard Time—so I'm on Tokyo time. Most of my family, including my children, live in Pacific (Seattle) time. A sister lives Mountain (Albuquerque) time. I have a bunch of author friends who live in Central (Winnipeg) and Eastern (Washington, D.C.) time.

You might wonder why I chose Winnipeg to represent Central time, but I bet some of you can guess. There might be a hint in this email. 😄

I've lived in Okinawa for 10 months now, and I've gotten pretty good at adjusting time when planning things with friends in the US, but one thing I continue to struggle with is the timing of promotions—whether it is a sale at a particular vendor or group promotions with authors that require sending newsletters on a specific date or within a range of dates. I tend to think I have more time to prep things than I do, because I'm living in the future, right?

On Sunday (for me) I sent an email that included this line:

I will share on social media and my newsletter, which I need to send yesterday. Luckily for me it’s tomorrow so I’ll only be a day late when I send it on Monday.

Except today is now Tuesday (for me) and I'm now TWO days late! This, however, was a choice, because today is release day for Toni Anderson's fantastic new release, COLD HEAT. So by being late, I'm right on time for everyone to be able to one click now!

COLD HEAT

FBI HRT operator Jordan Krychek has built his life around discipline and duty, hiding scars that run bone-deep. The night his family was murdered, the man responsible vanished into the wind. Now that ghost has reappeared—and a woman Jordan has sworn to protect is caught in the crossfire.

Daisy Montana doesn’t need a bodyguard, least of all her father’s dangerously intense teammate. But when a terrorist targets her area of research, and a killer from Jordan’s past resurfaces, she becomes a pawn in a deadly game of vengeance.

Forced into hiding—and into each other’s arms—the line between duty and desire combusts. From Mexico to Virginia, a relentless enemy draws them into a web of deception and betrayal. As the stakes rise and the body count climbs, Jordan and Daisy must untangle the mystery of what the next target might be, before it’s too late.

This time, Jordan’s mission is personal. And protecting Daisy might cost him everything—including his heart.
COLD HEAT delivers explosive action, heart-stopping suspense, and the kind of forbidden love that will bring even the most hardened operator to his knees.

Another steamy, thrilling, and scarily plausible read from an absolute master! STEM heroines and the men who must protect them are my catnip. This book delivers romance, science, and action in spades. — Me

Another author friend with a new release is the always fabulous Jayne Ann Krentz

THE SHOP ON HIDDEN LANE

New York Times bestselling author Jayne Ann Krentz dives into an enthralling new romantic suspense novel filled with deeply entrenched grudges, psychic dangers, and a conspiracy that threatens not only two families but also the entire paranormal community.

The Harper and the Wells families have regarded each other with deep suspicion for four generations. The Harpers have been known to offer their psychic talents for less-than-legal purposes, and the powerful Wells clan has a reputation for playing both sides of the street. But for all the years of history and distrust between them, there is a mysterious pact binding the two. They share the responsibility for protecting a long-buried and very dangerous secret.

Sophy Harper and Luke Wells are shocked to learn that her aunt and his uncle have been sleeping together—and now they are both missing. Not only that, but the last traces of them are at the scene of a murder soaked in negative paranormal energy. Clearly, someone is willing to kill to obtain the secret their families have been charged with protecting. Despite their mutual distrust, which, as far as Sophy is concerned extends to Luke’s hellhound of a dog, they both know that the terms of the pact must be honored.

Their investigation uncovers a psychic trail leading to a bizarre desert art colony where nothing is as it seems. But Luke and Sophy are concealing a few secrets, too. By a strange twist of fate, a Harper and a Wells have no choice but to trust each other and the fierce attraction that is binding them as surely as the pact between the families.

Jayne is always brilliant and she, Sarah MacLean, and Jen Prokop give some great book recommendations including books by Christina Dodd, Darcy Burke, and me! 😍 Click on the Fated Mates logo to listen.

Since my children left at the beginning of January, I've been busy writing FALSE FLAG. Soon I'll be heading to the US for a writing retreat with some fabulous authors, where I hope to write The End. 😃

I love these characters so much and it's been a pleasure to bring the series back to the Pacific Northwest. This time on the Canadian side of the border.

The 4th book in USA Today bestselling author Rachel Grant's award-winning Evidence: Under Fire series. Navy SEAL Lieutenant Jake Burns and archaeologist Staci Allen team up to expose a grifter intent on using pseudoarchaeology and disinformation to rewrite history and install white supremacists in power.

The pre-order price is only $5.99 (US). It will go up after release, so be sure to preorder if you want to lock in the lower price.

Happy reading!

Did you have a chance to see the Blood Moon total lunar eclipse on March 3rd? We had a great view of it from our rooftop in Okinawa. Unfortunately it clouded over before we got the tripod dialed in, but we were able to take this photo at the maximum total eclipse. I've been back in Okinawa for a few weeks and in addition to returning in time to see the eclipse, we also had family visit from the US and Taiwan. We had a great visit and I so enjoyed taking care of my 15-month-old grand-nephew. 😍...

I'm back in the US for a few weeks--I flew home at then end of January for a writing retreat in Southern California, which was glorious and sunny, but now I'm back in the Pacific Northwest and it's chilly here! This is, of course, to be expected, but most of my winter clothes are in long-term storage. Oops. Good thing I'm heading back to Okinawa soon! My writing retreat was fabulous--I had a great time talking business and craft with author friends who I've missed dearly this last year, and I...

Last week I received a copy of TINDERBOX in Japanese! The book was translated in 2019, but I never received copies and was delighted to discover I could order it online from a Japanese bookstore. The title in Japanese is 危ない夜に抱かれて According to Duck Duck Go, this translates to Embraced by a Dangerous Night, Kobo translates this to Being Hugged on a Dangerous Night. When I used Google Lens to translate the cover, it says When I'm Being Held on a Dangerous Night. I'm going to have my husband ask...
